what a relief when este asked me to take his picture. i have had such a hard time approaching strangers, lately. there were about 6 different people at the oaklandish lake merritt event that i wanted to shoot today, but i couldn't get up my nerve to ask any of them. as we were walking away, este hailed me and asked me to take his picture. then his friends wanted theirs done, too (coming soon). they were 3 buddies, just hanging out by the lake, not actually there for the event.
inspired by moucri, i've edited this and replaced it. i like it better, but it's not great.

Know how you feel. It's great when someone ask. Though I've shot 30 street portraits, there are still so many people I want to photograph, but I'm either too timid to ask, or it's just not the right time. Anyway, don't give up. This is a great challenge.
