It's real name is a non-contact tonometer or NCT, not the "blowing thing."
People get all freaked out about, but like any fear or anxiety it's worse in your mind than it actually is. So next time don't worry so much, it's not that bad, really!
It measures your eye pressure, if that's too high it can damage your optic nerve which can lead to blindness, suddenly a puff of air in the eye is not so bad. Unfortunately we can't feel high eye pressure, so have it checked.
