Yesterday, I wore these skis for the first time. Brian gave them to me as a Christmas gift -- the most thoughtful, wonderful Christmas gift I have ever received. The January before that Christmas, I tried cross-country skiing for the first time, and found that I truly loved it. Brian remembered, all those months later, how much I loved it, and bought me a pair of skis.

What makes this more than just a sweet story? That Christmas was 1996!

Well ... in the early winter of 1997, we were engaged and paying for our wedding and couldn't afford to do much of anything. By the winter of 1997/1998, we were just married and totally broke because we had just finished paying for our wedding. By the winter of 1998/1999, we had a newborn. A year and a half after that, we moved to VA and bought a house, and guess what? We were still broke! A couple more years after that, and we had ANOTHER newborn! Another year and a half, and we bought another house. You can see how this goes, right?! So, yes, here it is, 13 years later -- 2010, and I put these puppies on for use for the FIRST TIME. It. was. GREAT! Marisa tried them too, and loved them. I think the whole family is finally at a place where we can start doing this together!
