More Retro On Black

This looks easy, right?

Umm, no.

The background

The idea for this started last weekend checking out some garage sales for props for my 365. When I saw these 80’s rollerskates, nostalgia nagged at me and I just needed to buy them. I used to frequent Wheelies, the local roller rink, all through my junior high years. And, I was fairly competent… forward, backwards, turns, tricks… I had skilz ;) I haven’t been in skates for many moons, but it should be like riding a bike.

The idea

Put on your cool new-to-you skates and take a shot. Easy peasy.

The reality

Putting on rollerskates after a number of years is NOT easy, particularly the second one :) Any abilities I had in my youth have long since faded. The things I do to get a cliché shot that showcases hearts and knee highs … I deserve some sort of merit badge after this ;)

Anyway, I vow to get better, just need a "bit" of practice ! :)

My fav song from my rollerskating days, Prince’s Baby I’m a Star !

Paguma / Darren, just call me Mr Lucky, and 9 other people added this photo to their favorites.

A cool shot, worth all the hassle you described. Beautiful colours, the red hearts repeating the red of the wheels and that turquoise background.

As I watched tonight's episode of Fringe I saw a Verizon commercial that I swore used this pic. I think they just ripped off your idea though and reshot it because the commercial (I thought) had colored stripes on the socks.
