Cumulonimbus Cap Cloud

Cumulonimbus Cap Cloud

This one from a while ago - A beautiful cap (or pileus cloud) on a rapidly forming CB

These interesting phenomena indicate that the cloud just beneath it is growing very rapidly and is incredibly unstable. They indicate that the cloud is soon likely to form into a cumulonimbus cloud.

These can also form atop volcanic ash clouds as can be seen by this interesting picture upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a0/Sarychev_peak_erup...

Strange Shower

Strange Shower

This was a particularly odd shower. The cloud, showing some CB features, was incredibly shallow. The leading edge was mainly cumulus and stratocumulus and no anvil was present. Glaciation can only be seen on the trailing edge of the cloud. Some nice precipitation can be seen falling from the cloud too.

Precambrian Rocks

Precambrian Rocks

Here is a formation of precambrian rocks, dating back to approximately 600 millions years ago. Fossils have been found in these and other nearby rocks of the first complex lifeforms to develop on the Earth, Charnia
