Soup Fixins - Skyn Deep Entry by thegrocer*

Soup Fixins - Skyn Deep Entry

Vote for my design in the Equilibrium Skyn Deep 2009 competition. www.equnit.com/equilibrium/2009/10/skyn-deep-2009/

About my design:

Soup Fixins
One of the things I like about painting fruits and vegetables is the “infinite variation” that’s inherent in the subject. While anyone can have an idea about what a potato or onion looks like, no 2 potatoes or onions are identical – however similar they might be. Add to this the seemingly endless varieties of each vegetable type (there are 3 VERY different looking turnips in this design) and you really do end up with endless variations. When observed closely, the unique character of any living thing can be discovered.

The painted vegetables and fruit that make up this design come from two different paintings – Soup Fixins #1 + Soup Fixins #2.

Avocados - gone in less than 12 hours! by thegrocer*

Avocados - gone in less than 12 hours!

Shuffled this photo to the top for the weekend, originally uploaded 08/13/2007.

8/13/07 - Finally had access to a car to get this babies up. i know they won't last long in this location - but seeing as this is their second stint on the street i'm quite alright with it. First stint here.

11/09/07 - Met with someone about an unrelated commission and it turns out he's the one who stole this painting from the street!

7/28/09 - You can see these at Peter Lemke's show this weekend. Read about it here: art.newcity.com/2009/07/27/eye-exam-public-consumption/
