I was actually meeting a friend here to travel to the Thames Barrier to take photos and had no intention of actually photographing this building. Even though most of my shots seem to include the Thames river I figured the Barrier would make some nice shots.
While waiting around Bank during sunset / dusk, the sky started to become overcast and the Royal Exchange turned on this green lighting. I couldn't resist getting a photo of this intriguing scene. The blue sky here is very odd, as the sky around this area is usually quite red! I always think of Ghostbusters when I look at this photo.
The Royal Exchange was opened in 1571 as a centre for commerce, but is now a shopping centre. This actual building is in fact the third one to stand here and was opened in 1844.
