I've often tried to get some decent shots of St Paul's cathedral, but none have really pleased me. A lot of my London shots will actually have it in the background, but not as the main subject.
Whilst out for a walk, I thought I'd get some sunset / blue hour photos of St Paul's, or other buildings around this area. As I had my (16 year old) telephoto zoom lens with me, I thought a close-up of the building's detail against the backdrop of a cloudy sunset would look quite special. I hope I haven't disappointed.
Best viewed large.
Edit:
A lot of people have asked if I've added this sky in. No, I haven't.
I've done the usual tidying up in photoshop, but this is the sky that
was there.

clearly one of the best, if not the best photo I've ever seen of St.Paul's.
from your notes - it just goes to prove that you don't need the newest shiniest kit
to take a masterpiece of an icon - well done!
