We did a similar thing, starting a blog of the house build and hosting the images here. It was mostly for the grandparents who live in England, so they could see the progress of the build. Here's the blog.

I'm sure you've looked into this and would do it to a far higher standard, but:
We wanted to print a book of the blog and went to Blurb (because we'd got great photo books from there before). The one thing that I'd wished I'd done was to keep the full size, print-ready images from the blog postings in a folder. That way I could have flowed all of the postings into a book template at the press of a button (which Blurb let's you do) and just replace the images on each post manually (Blurb just downloads the screen resolution images from the blog). I'm just saying that I could have saved myself alot of hassle in producing what will be a 240 page hardback 13"x10" book. Don't know if that's useful.

D'you know, even though the house is done and I haven't posted there since the house was finished, I think you may have inspired me to add a few updates.

You know, your house blog was how I found you on flickr in the first place!
I followed your build the whole way through.

Our project is nowhere near as ambitious as yours was, but we're going to have fun seeing it all come together. We'd really love to open up the whole "living" side of the house to be more open an flowing, but the budget's far from up to it.
Still, we've already come a long way from how the place was when we first got the keys - ugh!

One of the reasons we started the house blog was because the kids are only here with us every second week, and it seemed a good way to try and keep them connected to the changes while they're away. But now it seems like a good record as well - so yeah, I'll bear that in mind about keeping the shots organised (not my strong point).

I'll be keeping an eye on the updates.

Oh, and another thing, we used sketchup alot when doing some of the planning of the interiors. It's very easy to use and free.

Suggestion for better utility (at more cost): Move bathroom up into kitchen. Pull out kitchen/hall wall. This gets rid of a hall that has no purpose other than to reach the bathroom, giving you more kitchen floorspace.

You'll find the money on the money tree out the back. (What? You have no money tree policy?)
