"The Library"
Prompted by Naddsy's photo over here...
This is the room we pretentiously refer to as The Library. The first thing we did when we bought this place was call the builder and get him to put in this wall of fixed bookshelves along one entire wall of our bedroom, floor-to-ceiling. We've recently added a new bedroom on the front of the house, so this is now along one wall of a wide corridor.
Sorry, Authostitch and Photostitch would cut it, so I've had to fudge it.
How much of a sticky-beak are you?
Note - No Dan Brown.

There's something so comforting about looking upon shelves and shelves of books. :)

Fabulous!!!!
We've just moved into a new house, and I still have over thirty boxes of books in the garage - I NEED MY BOOKCASES INSTALLED!!!!!!
Speedy_MSD (86 months ago | reply)
I'm not a sticky-beak at all :-)
The Lonely Planet guide to Tasmania I see, I was bought up there, what would you like to know :-)
John le Carre is good too, but I fail to see any Terry Pratchett, you are missing out.
Here's Kate (86 months ago | reply)
@Speedy - Indeed, the Pratchetts are in my 11-year-old's bedroom! ;)

i always wanted a library to myself...
<danielle> (86 months ago | reply)
i could definitely have rummaging through this lot.
Speedy_MSD (86 months ago | reply)
Kate, I'm glad there are Pratchetts in the house... mine aren't on a bookshelf either, they tend to be in a (big) pile by the bed.

I love how this photo turned out. Nothing so exciting as a wall of books!
helokity8117 [deleted] (86 months ago | reply)
I love the fact that you have "Fractal Geometry of Nature" and "The Joy of Sex" on the same shelf.
Lucky Clov (86 months ago | reply)
I see Dylan Thomas makes an appearance too!
:-) I quite like "Rage rage against the dying of the night.'
This is a great idea for a shot- analysis by library :-)
Well done. I might try my hand at this too!

LOL @ vago & kafeole - Just looking at this photo prompted a tidy-up. It already looks a lot neater!
bosquetango (86 months ago | reply)
Love love love this photo! Instantly put you in my contact list solely on this pic. Anyone with a wall of book makes me want to see more.
Here's Kate (86 months ago | reply)
Thanks bosquetango - glad you like it.
The next problem is finding another wall for the rest of the books...

i would be in heaven!! i want bookshelves like this in my (now-being-remodeled) living room!!
Red Eric (86 months ago | reply)
Great photo... reminds me of how much I need a bookshelf like that.... the lack of which means that a lifetime of books are now scattered all over the globe... which is heartening in some ways but sad in others.
Steph Cloutier (86 months ago | reply)
LOL!
looks a lot like mine. I'm in the process of rearranging everything... what a mess.
DerrickT (86 months ago | reply)
there has to be a "Grey's Anatomy" in there somewhere, eh? :)
Here's Kate (86 months ago | reply)
@DerrickT - Oh no! Sprung! I've been wanting one for ages - it's a definite gap in our shelves. For the moment all we have in that area is the Anatomy Colouring Book... sad.
