Tattered Waves of Antelope Canyon

Tattered Waves of Antelope Canyon

It has been a while since I have posted, but here is one from last summer's trip to Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona. I was browsing through my photos from the trip and have a lot of good ones left to post, just been incredibly slow (busy) lately. I love the waves of the canyon walls.

The Coast of San Carlos, MX

The Coast of San Carlos, MX

Hello! I haven't posted anything in a while and as a way to avoid studying for my Design of Experiments final I decided to work on some photos from my trip to Mexico this past October/November. Was a great trip with my girlfriend Erika and her family including SCUBA diving, snorkeling, JJ's tacos, and other great times. Can't wait to go back to this gorgeous place!

Swift

Swift

The first word to come to mind when looking at this photo was Swift. I can imagine the water and wind rushing down this canyon carving it out. If a flash flood occurred while 80 feet down from the lip of the canyon it would be impossible to escape.

Antelope canyon for me is a place where you see thousands of photographs of it to the point of desensitization. After finally visiting it myself, I understand the allure of the canyon. The lighting is always changing and the texture of the rock is something you can only feel, not observe. I would like to go back to the Lower Antelope Canyon and next time visit the Upper portion as well. The lower canyon, while only about half a mile long, is full of character.

I still have more Teton and Yellowstone photos to post eventually, just thought I would take a break and share one from my Page trip this summer as well. Enjoy!

Death Canyon Reflected in Phelps Lake

Death Canyon Reflected in Phelps Lake

After spending two days at Phelps lake during our Teton trip, Erika and I woke up at sunrise to capture this shot on a very calm morning. At first there were no clouds in the sky but then a small wisp appeared above the left wall of Death Canyon. It was a nice addition to the amazing view in front of us. We became friends with our neighbors, Jay and Sue, who were nice enough to give us a ride back to our car (parked at Bradley Lake) after hiking out 2 miles back to the parking lot. Of course after any experience in the backcountry, a beer with Erika and our newly made friends was even that much sweeter. We soaked in the view from a restaurant rooftop in Moose and continued our journey into Cascade Canyon by Jenny Lake.

This trip is by far one of the most scenic places I have been in my life. There is a certain humbling aspect felt when inside canyons like the one in this photo, where the walls on either side are 1000 feet tall and wild life is so prevalent.

Speaking of wildlife, we saw much around Phelps lake include deer, fox, marmots, moose, a cinnamon black bear, grouse, and several other small creatures. I'll post some photos of them coming up.

Hope you enjoy!

No, No, not BitTorrent...this is a stream Erika and I passed on the way to Bradley lake on our second day backpacking in the Tetons. Because of all the snow this year, large volumes of water are rushing down every stream you pass. Enjoy!
