Coke Zero 400 Pre-race Parade |
I took over four hundred (400) shots of
the forty-three (43) Corvettes and their
owners who volunteered for the pre-race
parade with the drivers of the field.
Here are a number of samples.
As always, I'm a photography novice
striving for amateur status. My shots
will be varied, especially earlier on,
as I was tweaking the metering,
bracketing and other details as I was
shooting at an angle facing the setting
sun. It's likely I shot with a spot
meter entirely too much, although some
shots came out better than had I
probably not.
I didn't get all of the Corvette
drivers for various reasons as follows
...
- I was shooting from pit row, people
working
(did my best to keep them out of the
shot)
- Driver's face hidden by
windshield/frame
(about 33-50% of the available shots)
- Driver looking towards their right,
away
(common enough for some)
- Driver's exposes "gratuitous
feature"
(e.g., tongue ala Michael Jordan style)
- Following the previous car too
quickly
(didn't get many shots)
- Moving too fast, often just after
previous
(didn't get many shots)
- Bad timing
(rare, my fault for at least two
drivers,
although I think Patrick is a vampire)
A big thanx goes to the Ponce Inlet
Corvette Club who gathered the cars and
their owners for International Speedway,
including inviting drivers from many
other clubs (and allowing myself to tag
along).
