Eskbank Railway Yards

This looks to clear to be part of the photo.. Are you using creative software to add this?
Nope. Medium format lenses are a world unto their own in terms of sharpness, contrast etc. This is almost exactly the same as the original Polaroid. I say exactly because this monitor tends to render things a little darker than most. It looks the same to me though :)
Eskbank Railway Yards by the_wolf_brigade.
It's been a week of highs and lows. For the most part it has been concentrated around my prac - a period of time that forms a part of my Master of Teaching degree where I go and teach in a school. It is extremely time consuming and very mentally taxing. I haven't had much time left for much outside of teaching except my family.

However, yesterday afternoon I took my eldest daughter out (4 1/2) to take photos of the sunset at a favourite local spot. She had her Focal brand point and shoot film camera which she used to take "photos" of the cows with (the sunset was soon forgotten when she saw the cows). And me? I got so caught up with taking photos of her taking photos of the cows that I missed the sunset :)

Today (18/10/08) is World Toy Camera Day (WTCD) and to celebrate we went into the front yard and played with the Diana. Tonight I'm going to load some slide film in her Focal camera to Xpro :D

As for the shot, I've decided to expand the exhibition concept to include Lithgow as a whole though focusing on five specific "experiences" of Lithgow. I took this concept from one of the tourist boards so when I can scan that negative from my Olympus Trip things might make a little bit more sense. This particular shot is at Eskbank Railway Yards, as the title suggests, and is still on Inch street just a few hundred meters from the Blast Furnace.

According to the manual the Mamiya 67 range with a Polaroid back uses the full width of the back to make the image. It comes out with two idents (like seen here) but I normally crop them out.

You use the whole ground glass surface to compose, and even then you get more picture than you can see on the glass.

A very difficult task to get everything lined up tight and straight, as I found out recently whilst photographing a door. I like this one, a mile of character, in fact it evens looks Lithgow-like.

That is great work. Not sure if you have considered it but there are a couple of great rail bridges i would love to photograph in Lithgow too so if you are planning a trip (or I do) then we should head up together. A lot of great texture in this shot. Lovely.

Ooo... thanks for the heads up on World Toy Camera Day. I've been putting in long hours at work (teacher!) getting ready for a music competition so I haven't had time for much of anything. I WILL head out today though with my camera.

I was using a WLF so I had to angle the camera up slightly, meaning some loss of right angles. The plan was to use these polaroids to provide a visual cue for the next visit, so if I can find the opportunity, I'm keen to head back with the uni's 75mm shift lens for the RB.

Definitely keen on that! I'm still pretty much booked solid until the 7th of November, but after that I want to head up for a sunset ath Lithgow....

Yep. 10 year old 100 speed....

Cheers!

I used to read your twitter work related posts with interest because I knew you were a teacher, and I was trying to guage what I was getting myself in for! Guess you're going to take out the Vivitar?

Love that group :)

Yeah. I got the prints back today, and she relived the whole event all over again, explaining it to the whole family :)

I was feeling a little restricted by just one location and happened to take a few shots elsewhere in Lithogw, and it just made sense to expand. There is some amazing architecture up there, and that is one of my favourite things to photograph.

It's totally awesome that your daughter has her own little camera.

My oldest turns 3 in December and will be receiving her fist camera at that time. Found some great little point and shoots (pink of course) for her. She already has a pink laptop so I guess she'll be photoblogging in no time? I mean... there's that whole learning to read and write thing :-)
