A closer shot of these gorgeous, hauntingly beautiful and eerie clouds. I'm reminded of ocean waves at a tropical beach.

Lovely Noctilucent Clouds

Lovely Noctilucent Clouds

This is the first time I've had the opportunity to capture NLCs with my DSLR. Around 3:40 this morning, I went out and was thrilled to see the brightest display here that I have ever witnessed. I was even more pleased at how the images came out. To my eyes, hindered by bad vision, the clouds looked like hazy, glowing mist, but from the camera, the detail leaps off my computer screen. Wonderful!

Green

Green

A simplistic title, but very fitting. For this one, I stood underneath a conifer, pointed my DSLR up, zoomed in, and shot. Needless to say, I was pleased with how it came out.

Volcanic Sunrise

Volcanic Sunrise

Taken on the morning of 28 June, a lovely volcanic sunrise. I've long adored taking pictures of sunsets and sunrises, so these were a special and unique experience for me.

Volcanic Sunset

Volcanic Sunset

Taken on the evening of 27 June, volcanic sunsets are the result of thin sulfur and ash clouds high in the atmosphere. The red light of the sun mixes with blue light scattered by volcanic particles, to produce the telltale lavender hue. These particular sunsets have been seen around the world in recent days, due to the recent eruption of Russia's Sarychev Peak volcano.
