For weeks I have been seeing the horses
around here lying down. Perhaps they are
getting too much grass. When I saw this one
in the flowers I was certain that the moment
I opened the car door it would get up like
all the rest, but it stayed there, even after
I jumped the fence and lay down in front of
it. I've since seen it standing up, so I
guess it's ok. Thanks all.
Funny how an unusual pose can change things.
I bet he/she's thinking: "Heheh look at
the confused photographer I bet he's
thinking: 'Is it a dog or a horse ... I'm
confused?!' ".
Look at that sentence, a supposed thought
within a supposed thought.
Maybe they should give them a few large
baskets so they could rest there as well.
I think that usually when horses lie down,
they lay on their sides, which makes this
position seem so striking. But perhaps its
more common than I think, not being a
horse-person. (perhaps a horse owner can
enlighten me) This pose also softens the
great raw power of the horse, bringing it
down to our level more, perhaps giving it a
gentle benevolent feel behind great power,
much like the dragon in Never ending story,
yes!. Cute eyes and long soft white hair help
too.
Very gentle position, he(she) seem to look at you and sniffing the
presence show his polite interest to that person who
approach with the camera curiosity.
I was thinking the chances of it staying in
that position were very low, but feeling very
lucky when it did. It was possibly ill, perhaps having eaten too
much, as I walk past those horses often and
they never seem that chilled.

I keep thinking of a dog as well. Well, they are pretty similar models really, except for size and digestive system.
Yes Sushanta Meh, your sentence was self similar and had the potential to spiral endlessly, but you stopped it, sensibly.

If they had fangs, this might mean: "One step closer and you're food, turn your back to run and you're game".
Ambush by overwhelming benevolence and cuteness, like when older cats purr to confuse an inexperienced youngster right before a fight.
This is just a though[t] and not the signals I get at all, which only means I'd be prey.

Really special moment - do you remember your state of mind precisely as you approached ? Do offer "it" a carrot next time you see it ;-)

Eh .. next time do try and talk softly to it, maybe it will come over - who knows, this horse may be "different"
