my relationship with dave b2 is my tightest and most long-lasting online
friendship. almost seven years it has been and that alone is incredible
to me. it seems an eternity since i was the very different person i was
back then. and he was different, too. we have grown together.

dave is like my little imaginary pal that has been with me throughout
all my inner and outer changes and he just won't go away dammit! that
was a joke. i don't want him to go. i consider us family by now,
including the honesty and also annoyance that comes with family bonds.

he has helped me through difficult times and i want to believe that i
was able to do the same for him. i have met him in person, too, and he
is the sweetest guy you can imagine, which i guess to some is hard to
see on first sight. an older lady we met mistook him for a drug addict.
he is incessantly overdriven and he has dark rings around his eyes and
he dresses like a cloud of pop culture fallout - an individuality that
makes him cool in some people's eyes and scary in others'.

yes, dave is very individual. not only his way of dressing but his way
of working, thinking, feeling. his artwork is at first stunningly
offbeat and complicated. the reason why he may have difficulties landing
design jobs. he is not lacking talent and dedication, mind you. baby
works like a crazy engine. his creations are so rich in meaning and
references that it is often hard for me to take the time and understand.
and then there's more depths beyond that, a universe of ideas and
characters that every work is a snapshot of. but that is a mark of true
art to me and dave has a lot of important things to say.

i know that my friend needs people to listen, and see, and think. this
website is a great base. it is fresh and exciting because it evolves
organically and continues to grow at many ends. i find it inspiring that
dave doesn't limit himself here. it's an odd collection and it is fun to
explore.

for the future, i hope and wish that he can make his awesomeness be seen
more in the future. i hope he can connect with people's hearts like he
did with mine. that is it. thank you. -jan.
