Have a look at the original for all it's little secrets.

I think a little backstory would be good. It was a small town in the Mongolian Gobi Desert. In touring the country, you are surrounded by nothingness for hours at a time, and then everyone once in a while, a small settlement will appear out of the dust. This was part of a very small, quiet town that was very lived in and inhabited, but felt so empty and forgotten. I guess it's those memories than an image makes so much better and stronger.

I like the subject matter and the b & w. Just needs something more to focus on - feels like the subject is missing.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess to me the subject is everything, the whole spread of the ground and everything on it. The reason why this one jumped out at me after being overlooked for sometime was the way the lines led my eye into and around the photo, and maybe to a lesser extent the way that it feels almost soley as a documentary record (except for the person and dog) of the way the world was there and then.

The mood is depicted very well..........also the composition is stark, but nice, for ex. the care to keep the leading lines diagonal
