I was walking by this place a few years back
and wafting from its corridors was the
stinkingest skunk bud I have ever smelt. It
stopped me in my tracks.
So but than... who made the photo in 1978? and also...what does it mean? They cannot
have lived there at that time.. If possible I try to visit it in november
when I come over..
thanx for sharing:-)

I lived in this house from 1963 to 1969 I
lived with the Weems family. I was one of their foster kids. Jane had
painted the house with the Beatles and had
painted serveral more Beatle themes inside
the house. The phote was made by the SF
Chornicle newspaper it had a full page on
Jane and the house.....Sadly Mom Weems passed
away in October 2004 and the house was sold
awhile later. I even took my kids to see Mom
Weems and Jane. They called her Grandma Weems
and Aunt Jane.....I truly miss them.....
hey, Jane weems here...this is the first
version, painted in 1974 the first time,
& re-touched in the mid-80's...it was
featured in the movie "living on tokyo
time", as the rehersal studio!...and
also, on local television, CNN, and in the
local newspapers 4 or 5 times too!... and on the TV show "bay area
backroads", where the host opened the
segment by saying "welcome to a mission
district house, where everything is so rock n
roll, even the DOGS name is Louie
Louie!" i have alot of memories from a lifetime of
living there (43 years!) & miss it
terribly!...i really did leave my heart in
san francisco!....the book "a history of
bernal heights" put out by the san
francisco historical society, has a
photograph taken after it was re-done in the
mid-80's...when i painted it originally, some
of the people who would walk by every day,
& watch my progress, were undercover
S.L.A. members bill & emily harris!...i remember
bill harris asking me "does your mom
know you're doing this?"...coming by the
house, watching the murals daily progress,
waving, smiling and yelling "all you need
is love!"....
no problem! i was happy to see this up
here!...i'm hoping soon my little brother
Mike Munoz will happen across this page,
& contact me!......i would love to talk
to him!...I took him to go & see the sex
pistols at winterland, when he was only 10
years old, & we got to meet Sid Vicious,
who was thrilled such a little kid would be 9
hours early, to be the first in line!!...i
also took him to see kiss in 1977...he was a
huge kiss fan!...recently, a friend of mine
who works for Gene Simmons showed him a
polaroid we took of mike in 1977, when he was
9,with Gene make-up on his face...only, it
wasn't exactly make-up...i used magic marker,
& it wouldn't come off for days!! he even
had to go to school with traces of gene
make-up on his little face!!...whem my friend
showed gene the picture, & told him that,
he cracked up!!...mike, gene simmons likes
your face! luv, jane
When I was born we lived in the little flat
below this house. Originally the Address was 189 Precita and we
lived in 189 1/2. Jane told me that via e-mail. I was born in late 1949.
H! This is amazing. I grew up onTreat. Walked
by here a thousand times or more. Who there
was in the band The Maggots? This was
probably 1979, if I remember correctly.
hi, VitaGRAFICA, Jane Weems here...I was the
drummer/songwriter for THE MAGGOTS, who
practiced in the basement of the BEATLE HOUSE
pictured here...other members encluded Robert
Conner-keyboards, Dave Torres-guitar (on
record) Dino Skids-guitar (in basement) Rich
Bitch-bass, Vicki Berndt, vocals (let's get
tammy wynette) Susan Garza, vocals (2/2/79)
and assorted other crazy punk rock kids
trying to play....Brian Thomas, Aaron
Gregory, Richard Giron were briefly maggots as well, until they
sprouted wings and flew away...hope that
answers your questions! jane.weems@mchsi.com
I love the new color photo. That is awesome.
Thanks for posting. I am now the current
occupant of the house and have been looking
for a color photo for awhile. And FYI, the
house is still 189 Precita, and the
downstairs flat which used to be 189-1/2 is
now 191. I'd love to get a copy of the color
phot - Z-ang, is that possible? Jane, great work. Telstar, feel free to drop
a note or say hi. Hugh (hughmagen@yahoo.com)
hello Hugh Jane here...i have a nice color pic here of
the house...should i try to post it here, or
do you want a real, physical copy?..let me
know at: jane.weems@mchsi.com cheers, Jane
I'm Richard Giron and I approve this photo...
Yeah I can barely sing and barely played
guitar and I do remember this house well back
in 1977... It was a mile from where I live
and I took my cheap guitar and bashed out
what seemingly was an attempt to create some
sort of chord progression. 20 years later I
started writing real songs with a songwriter
partner. This experience only started me on
my way.
HI, I am the former owner that sold the
property to hughmagen. We bought it in 2004
as a fixer upper, it was a light green color
outside (I probably have a photo somewhere
and pictures from the inside if anybody is
interested) and the beattles were gone, the
inside was. blue upstairs and black
downstairs. We converted it into 2 flats and
got the number 191 for the downstairs. This
is a great neighborhood, very friendly and
some really nice people there. We sold it in
2005 when we moved back to France. We
completed remodeled it ourselves, a lot of
work but well worth it. I hope the new owner
loves it as much as we did. here is a picture when it was green www.flickr.com/photos/78100268@N02/7157737324
