FAR OUT man !

A few months back I found an old 8 track tape. I showed to our baby sitter (she's 21). I asked her if she knew what it was. You would think I handed her a piece off the space shuttle. She had NO idea what it was !

I recall running a hifi demo some years ago (2003) for a young guy and his girlfriend. he'd specified turntable as his primary source, understanding he'd net better results within his budget (and had access to all his dad's records) - his girlfriend was amazed, she'd genuinely never seen a turntable in action before and watched me cueing the tonearm on the Rega P3 to the next track "how does it know where the next song is?". we take old technology for granted.

I too love the pictograms on the controls. #8 )

oh, the "stereo" light...forgot about those. You really should post an image of the washer/wiper switch and, of course, the high-beam switch on the floor...

Totally works. Remember how much fun it was when the songs dropped out in the middle to switch tracks? Good times, good times...

David - surprised to hear that, 8-tracks made it to the UK. You could even get players that hooked up to your home stereo...wall mounted no less.

Looked in to it, they came to Sweden in the early 70's but were out-competed by the “Compact Cassette”. Can't say that I've ever seen an 8-track cassette here in Sweden though…
