On the ridge

On the ridge

This was taken on one of my regular walks around Pamphill and the River Stour. Every time I pass these trees I stop and admire them - it's their shape and the grouping silhouetted against the bright sky that I like!! And on this day last week, the sky was particularly nice. I did try to get an off centre composition but this just seemed to work.

This was again taken with the G9 compact. Because I have a particular project that I am working on at the moment, I am focussing on the walking much more than the photography so haven't really taken so many 'serious' images with the SLR.

This one definitely needs viewing on black to see the full effect :)

Upon the dark sea!

Upon the dark sea!

The light was rather nice this day and a lonely sailing dinghy happened along, picked out by the sun against an inky sea! Taken from the cliff top near Old Harry Rocks.

Thanks for your visit and for your comments.

Walking the ramparts

Walking the ramparts

Taken at Badbury Rings, an iron age hill fort in Dorset. This couple were circumnavigating the fort by walking round one of the ramparts and bless her, she was wearing red :)!

The road to nowhere!

The road to nowhere!

Back to my favourite avenue of trees near Kingston Lacy, captured on a perfect Sunday morning when the mist hung around and yet there was some nice brightness too. This is the Kingston Lacy end of the avenue and in days gone by the carriages would have come along here on their way to the house to visit the Bankes family who owned seemingly half of Dorset - well not quite, but they did own a lot. This avenue was voted by Countryfile magazine as one of the top 5 tree avenues in Britain! And rightly so :)!

Thanks for your visit and I hope you are all having a good week.

Melbury Abbas Mill across the mill pond

Melbury Abbas Mill across the mill pond

I think this little gem fits nicely in my Hidden Dorset set. It is the old mill at the village of Melbury Abbas and it is relatively unknown because despite the fact that the village is on a 'rat run' for lots of traffic travelling north through Dorset, no one ever stops there.........except me of course when I am walking ;-)! If people did stop there, they would find quite a lot of interest there - mind you, I am interested in quirky things :)!

The mill itself is actually the smaller building on the left and it still has the water wheel attached - there are more pictures below. It is now in private ownership.
