- love the contrast in colours here - jessicamelling
Summer at its best...
Supersampler + Kodak Elite Chrome 100 Cross Processed.
No 3. (1:6:6)
Who would have thought that such a beautiful place could be inadvertently stumbled upon - just outside Watford!
Taken with my lovely, if somewhat idiosyncratic Supersampler - 4 lenses take 4 shots onto 1 negative over 2 seconds. Completely plastic, no control whatsoever and no viewfinder - you just wave it about and hope for the best - these days, I've even learned to point it at things and keep it still! ;)

This would look great split into four, enlarged and printed on canvas (not that it doesn't look great already, but you know what I mean).

As ever, a supersampler gem.... love the reds against that elitechromey cyany sky. Oh, and where in Watford - that's not far from me and home to my beloved Asda lab (and right now 8 of my holiday rolls!)

watford! you alchemical genius - you've turned watford into photographic gold :))

Coo, you know what? This would make excellent wallpaper, with a bit of fiddling they'd form a continuous sky..

:O i have this film! i think i will xpro is when i get it developed, itss puurdy!
TheWishy (59 months ago | reply)
This is a lovely XPro. Feels very summerlike.
Do you keep a mental note of how the colours act on each of the films and think "That'll look good with film X", or it there more pot luck involved?
terminal orbit (59 months ago | reply)
Lovely, this one.
I like the overdone colours, the "snap-snap-snappety-snap"-feeling to the multiple shots.
Just as your title says.

@ twentyeight: Cheers!
@ +faster+:Elite Chrome 100 loves slies like this, and there I was going off the acidic tones of this particular film for a bit, I've decided that it's not so bad after all now.... Such a fickle creature I am.... ;)
@ ♥gartersnlace♥: They really are fun, and I'm glad you like this one - thanks.
@ ithinkdefinitelymaybe: No tricks - just a clever camera. :)
@ Loulou H: Thanks. :D
@ Mac...:It has been suggested a number of times, that I should turn some of these supersampler shots into silk screens, but no-one has ever mentioned canvasses before. one of these days I'm going to have to sit down and look at the best resolution and colours I get with these film images and take the suggestions on board seriously. if I ever do it, I'll let you know. ...and thanks for the affirmation. :)
@ *Hairbear: Ironic really - given it's done practically nothing but rain since! ;)
@ Jamie Mellor & kesouthall: Thankyou both.
@ slimmer_jimmer: M tells me with some great authority that it was just off the Hunton Bridge Roundabout (M25 Junction 19), which I guess will mean more to you than most, and quite a lot more to you than it did me - not letting a little thing like a motorway junction get between me and my photography addiction!! ;)
...and um thanks...again, for being always so positive!
@ Lady Vervaine: Well if alchemy = downright unintentional lier then that would be me.... it was just outside Watford really, but it was the nearest big place I could think of!
@ harry harris: That would be wallpaper to do your head in, especially after a hangover, perhaps I could approach the Lord Chancellor's Department and ask them if they'd like the very expensive £59,000 'post-Irvine-of-Lairg' hand painted flock replaced any time soon.... It was 1998 you know.....;)
@ mozart&me: Cheers...
@ hillcrest_kelsey: If you have abundant sunshine at your disposal, I strongly recommend cross processing it.
That is all... ;)
@ TheWishy: These days I keep a mental note, which works a treat as long as I can remember which film I've put in the camera and that shouldn't always be taken as read.... In this instance, I did actually remember that I had Elite Chrome 100 in there, but I certainly wasn't expecting a whole sequence of them to come out in these colours. I keep sets by film, specifically so I can anchor the colour shifts according to different light conditions in my brain - every time I add more I review the set, take note of anomalies and the conditions they occired in and try to learn a bit more, that's why my tagging is so detailed.
Some might say I was retentive....
maybe...
just a teeny bit....
@ terminal orbit: ...the "snap-snap-snappety-snap" colours...
That is just the BEST description - thanks! :D
@ mark.os: Thankyou again Mark.

Wow! Great Picture! Have you tried out the idea with the printout in large format on canvas?
Trapac (57 months ago | reply)
@ zi___iz: Thanks for your enthusiasm. :)
@ Annie Katherine: Cheers.
@ bikemoments.com: Yes - I have considered it seriously actually. I'm building up a small stash of sampler images (amongst others) that I would consider getting enlarged - particularly if I ever decide to exhibit. These images are relatively low res supermarket scans for flickr purposes, but scanning the negatives directly result in much 'cleaner' images and more even framing so it's entirely possible to get high quality enlarged versions. ....and four canvasses was exactly what I had in mind for this!
I'm glad you think it would be worth doing too, thanks. .

@ Katya Killer of Light: Thanks for the invite. :)
@ 今天: Haha. Great response, thanks!
@ scott w. h. young: Hey, thanks for that. Given that it really is a 'toy camera' in pretty much every sense of the phrase, I've come to love it actually. It's quite a challenge to think about what you are going to achieve with what is essentially a viewfinderless arm extension with some photographic capacity.... This little camera has been really great for me, and I think it has enormous untapped potential but it demands a lot of perseverance and patience. Glad you like this, it still makes me think of a very loud wallpaper pattern, but it seems people still like it. :)
@ majickal_fey: those colours are a combination of cross processed elite chrome and sunshine, a fabulous combination. :)
@ senhormario: Thanks.
@ Ashikin Abdullah: Tones that need volume control I guess, glad you enjoyed it too. :)
@ permeability: Now that, I consider a major triumph, it's the kind of comment that makes me grin broadly. Go for it, you know you can get really subtle tonal and textural ranges from film, that belies this image. Good Luck! :D
