As a Southern transplant, must interject that the lima bean ≠ butter bean. Having trouble finding a good website that discusses this, but this link (http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/100340972/ Butter_Bean.html) does a decent enough job by stating, "In culinary use, lima beans and butter beans are distinctly different, the former being small and green, the latter large and yellow."

I think it's like saying that tabby and calico cats are the same.
