Smashing light bulb

Smashing light bulb by JohnKit.
This was done as a photo assignment in high school (1986 I think). The idea was use a flash in a photo.

The idea was to use the flash to freeze the action. It worked pretty well.

Mr. Kittlsrud,
I was in that bathroom when this photo was taken... you had devised a touch senstive switch that would trigger the flash on impact (a bit of aluminum foil and some contacts)... we also tried shooting balloons with a BB gun with also interesting results... I wonder if you still have those images... for anyone that reads this you must know that these experiments were usually in the bathroom simply because it was the darkest place in the house.
We would set up the experiment in the bathroom, turn the lights out then see what happened (of course the dark room for image exposure was also in the bathroom... John's mom was always really cool about this, the enlarger and chemicals etc...)
However the BB gun attempts were kinda dangerous... the Redrider one pump BB gun never actually penetrated the balloon (but it did trigger the flash, with a really cool photo of a really stressed balloon) but a BB would ricochet around the bathroom... we would say "wow" and I think now how lucky we were not to loose an eye....
Hell yeah brutha, them was the days....

Yeah, those were the days. You can't see in the photo because of the crop but the contact was a Sudafed pill packet. I must have been out of foil that day. I'm amazed that we never shattered a mirror in the bathroom with a stray BB. I think running out of film prevented it.
