Strobist Boot Camp II: First Assignment
Being in the middle of busy exams and all, I didn't have much time to look for subjects.
Luckily, there are things in this world like facebook and friendly neighbours :)
Delphine is my next door neighbour and was glad to help me out on this
one. She is a language-student who likes nature and quiet, peaceful
places. Places like the beguinage O.L.V. Ter Hooyen (that's what wikipedia calls it... we call it "Begijnhof" )
in our street.
In my photostream you can find some other shots that we took there.
I kept the background and lighting simple, as the point of the assigment is that the focus is supposed to be on Delphine.
Key: 1 vivitar 285 through a shoot-through umbrella on camera right (well, left actually, as the photo was shot upside-down ;) )
Fill: 1 ginormous white clouded sky, on axis ;)

Extremely smooth and nice light! The little yellow-green color differences on the grass work really well. The white clover on the left is distracting me a bit from the main subject, which by the way is absolutely beautiful. She looks really natural there, lying on the grass and seems to be loving it. Also the layout of the pics is nice.

tcha! As if!!! Anyone could have pulled this off with a subject that has almost violet eyes, reddish hair and good taste in clothing matched with an almost quirky but beautiful smile!
Seriously, great composition and lighting!! Congratulations on the well deserved win!
That said, was the flower an accident or planned? I have to disagree with David Hobby on that one, as I personally find it a little distracting. Then again, what do I know!?
