Adult Center - December 2013
It's the best time of the year! Thumb Butte Quilters are here to share a collection of Christmas quilts with you. Have a holly jolly Christmas! Say hello to friends you know, and everyone you meet.

The quilts now hanging in the Atrium of the Prescott Community Center are as follows, (standing at the Reception Desk, looking South out the front door, beginning with the first small quilt in the southwest corner, and going around the room clockwise):

(small quilt location—southwest corner):

Sue Weisshaupt, quilt maker. “Merry Christmas. ” This Irish Chain Star-in-a-Star is officially called “Arrowheads”. Machine pieced and quilted by Sue.

(Large Quilts on the West Wall):

Kathy Beeson, quilt maker. “Prescott Snowflakes.” Mini friendship group “The Appliquettes” appliqued the blocks designed by Kathy—all scenes of Prescott. Hand quilted by Kathy.

Marti Harbour, quilt maker. “Christmas Sampler.” Blocks were pieced by Popo Agie Quilt Club members of Lander, Wyoming, 2001. Machine quilted by Linda Johnstone.

Carolyn Edwards, quilt owner. “Birds in the Air.” A 'rescued' quilt--machine pieced and hand quilted in a Baptist Fan overall pattern. Per Carrie A. Hall, author of Romance of the Patchwork Quilt in America, copyright 1935, this pattern was “an old, old all-over pattern” even then!

(small quilt location—northwest corner):

Tina McCowan, quilt maker. “It's Always Christmas.” This was a Santa Claus Block of the Month pattern designed by Tina and Nyla Paulsen for Mountain Top Quilters guild. Machine appliqued and machine quilted by Tina.

(small quilt location—northeast corner):

Maggie Keller, quilt maker. “Snowman Collector.” A machine embroidery design digitized by Lynda Howell, adjusted a bit and with a little bling added. Machine quilted by Maggie.

(Large Quilts on the East Wall):

Jane Holland, quilt maker. “Christmas Houses.” A friendship group called “The Young and The Restless” made and traded these blocks. Jane wanted a larger quilt, so she made more house blocks.

Maggie Keller, quilt maker. “Merry Christmas, Old Friends.” This was a 9-patch block exchange in Nimble Thimbles AQG Chapter sometime in the 80's. Finally, in 2004, the blocks were set together. You can't see it, but the quilt back is as much fun as the quilt front!

B. Johnson, quilt maker. “First Christmas.” TBQ President, B. Johnson, shares her Christmas Tree...and oh!, does it sparkle! Pieced, appliqued, and quilted by machine.

(small quilt location—southeast corner):

Pam Jones, quilt maker. “Christmas Cross Stitched.” Cross stitched stars were done by friend, Sharon Heilman; and tired of the project, she gave the blocks to Pam. Thrilled, Pam set the blocks together and completed the quilt with hand quilting.
