Thumb Butte Quilters' Current Display of Quilts

Thumb Butte Quilters are having a “Spring Fling”! We've gathered together a fun and happy collection of Spring quilts. We hope they will make you want to tiptoe through the tulips, skip down your garden path, and delight in the joys of Springtime in Prescott!!

The quilts now hanging in the Atrium of the Prescott Community Center are as follows, (standing at the Reception Desk, looking South out the front door, beginning with the first small quilt in the southwest corner, and going around the room clockwise):

Carolyn Edwards, quilt maker. “Wildberry Vines”. This quilt was a block of the month pattern designed by Nancy Odom. It is hand appliqued and machine pieced by Carolyn, and machine quilted by Maggie Keller.

(Large Quilts on the West Wall):


Carolyn Edwards, quilt maker. “Pink Amish Baskets”. This is a reproduction of a quilt pictured in “The World of Amish Quilts” book by Rachel and Kenneth Pellman. The original quilt was made in 1908. The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted.

Vickie Sawyer, quilt maker. “Ain't She Sweet?”. Isn't this quilt just the sweetest thing you've ever seen with its playful spring fabrics?! Machine pieced and machine quilted.

Kathleen Bond, quilt maker. “Double Handled Baskets”. This quilt, made of 30's fabrics and Feedsacks, was inspired by a quilt made by Mary Mashuta. Machine pieced and hand quilted.

Tina McCowan, quilt maker. “Backyard Bunnies”. Hand appliqued, machine pieced, and hand quilted. Pattern is from Quilter's World, April 2010 issue.

Betty Foley, quilt maker. “Dog Days of Summer”. This is one of Betty's many original designs. She uses lots of 'mixed techniques' and machine quilts her work.

(Large Quilts on the East Wall):


Barbara Merkel, quilt maker. “70th Birthday Quilt”. Barbara and 33 of her friends made the 70 flower blocks for her birthday! Hand appliqued and machine quilted in 2011.

Vickie Sawyer, quilt maker. “Blooming Nine Patch”. This is a favorite pattern of quilters and has been made hundreds of times! Machine pieced and machine quilted.

Barbara Merkel, quilt maker. “Winter in the Garden”. This pattern was designed by Sheila Wintle. It is hand appliqued and machine quilted.

Susan Perry, quilt maker. “Always Spring--with Butterflies and Humming Birds”. Using fabric designed by Laurel Burch, how could one go wrong! Machine pieced and machine quilted.
