Adult Center - January 2011
For your viewing pleasure, Thumb Butte Quilters present an array of house quilts to emphasize the fact that “There’s No Place Like Home”. It is our hope that these quilts bring a smile to your face as you remember home and family.

The makers of the quilts now hanging in the Atrium of the Prescott Community Center are as follows (standing at the Reception Desk, looking South out the front door, beginning with the first small quilt in the southwest corner, and going around the room clockwise):

(small quilt location--southwest corner)
Barbara Merkel, quilt maker. “Home Sweet Home” (a pattern by Kathy Schmitz). Hand embroidered, machine pieced and machine quilted by Barbara.

(Large Quilts on the West Wall):

1. Joan Carrell, quilt maker. “A Picture Perfect Hometown”. Machine pieced, appliquéd, and quilted by Joan in May 2008.
2. Colleen Harlow, quilt maker. “Little House Friendship Quilt”. This is a group quilt, with blocks made by the ladies of the Little House Quilters Guild. Colleen added machine applique to the pieced blocks, and machine quilted it in 2007.
3. Kathy Beeson, quilt maker. “Around Town”. Machine appliquéd, machine pieced and machine quilted by Kathy.

(small quilt location--northwest corner)
Chris Anders, quilt maker. “Come on to My House, to My House”. The house blocks in this quilt were made for Chris by friends in “In Stitches” friendship group for her birthday. Machine quilted by Chris.

(small quilt location--northeast corner)
Chris Anders, quilt maker. “Home Sweet Home”. This is the same pattern as Barbara Merkel’s quilt. The word border was designed by Mary Andra Holmes. Hand embroidered, machine pieced, and machine quilted by Chris.

(Large Quilts on the East Wall):

1. Tina McCowan, quilt maker. “Those Were The Days”. These blocks are typically called the ‘school house’ block. Machine pieced and hand quilted by Tina in October 1998.
2. Lorraine Owen, quilt maker. “Fun with Dick and Jane”. This quilt was machine pieced and machine quilted by Lorraine in 2006.
3. Evelyn Pelletier, quilt maker. “Yavapai County Courthouse”. The “clock” block in the top center was made by Eve in a class with Peggy Martin. That was the inspiration block for Eve to create the Courthouse. Machine pieced and quilted by Eve in 2009.

(small quilt location--southeast corner)
Kathy Beeson, quilt owner. “President’s Quilt”. Members of Thumb Butte Quilters made this quilt for Kathy at the end of her 2001-2002 term as Guild President.
