Adult Center - February 2008
For your viewing pleasure, the latest presentation of quilts has been hung by the Thumb Butte Quilters Guild. This is a collection of “Quilts From The Heart”. We hope you can see why we love to share our love of quilting.

The makers of the quilts now hanging in the atrium of the Prescott Adult Activity Center are as follows: (standing at the Reception Desk, looking South out the front door, beginning with the first small quilt in the southwest corner, and going around the room clockwise).

Susan Gates-Harms, quilt maker. (small quilt location--southwest corner) Made with a love for quilting challenges, this quilt uses log cabin blocks to make heart designs. Susan has added an original border design to the center commercial pattern.

* Lorraine Owen, quilt maker. Made with a love for the Wedding Ring quilt pattern, Lorraine took a class from John Flynn at Quilt Camp in the Pines, in Flagstaff. It is her second quilt, but the first one she quilted by hand.
* Jennifer Eakman, quilt maker. The Dresden Plate blocks were stitched together by Jennifer’s great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother. Jennifer finished the quilt with hand appliqué, machine piecing, and machine quilting. This quilt was a Blue Ribbon winner at the 2007 Yavapai County Fair.
* Kay Wentworth, quilt maker. This Wedding Ring quilt top was “rescued” from a garage sale, and machine quilted by Kay. What love story was stitched into that quilt top by an unknown quilter?

Carolyn Edwards, quilt owner. (small quilt location--northwest corner) This quilt was made with love by her Friendship quilting group when she moved from Iowa to Arizona.

Kay Harlan, quilt maker. (small quilt location--northeast corner) This quilt is a “Round Robin”, made and passed around by 7 friends in her Sante Fe, N.M., Friendship Group called “The Batts”.

(Large quilts on the East wall)

· Gale Willcox, quilt maker. The blocks in this quilt were created for Gale by friends in her small quilting group, “Gad-Abouts”. It was hand quilted by Lila Levi of Phoenix.

· Kay Harlan, quilt maker. The basket blocks in this quilt were presented to Kay at the end of her two-year term as President of the Sante Fe Quilters Quild. She assembled the quilt top and hand quilted it.

· Maria Thomas, quilt maker. This quilt of hearts and a Single Irish Chain were made for Maria’s daughter Liz, December 2007. Thanks to Liz for sharing her new hand quilted gift.

Carolyn Edwards, quilt maker. (small quilt location--southeast corner) This quilt, and a twin quilt made by a friend, was therapy to help friends deal with the friend’s breast cancer diagnosis.
