All Gates Occupied

All Gates Occupied

This pigeon flew into frame as I was shooting a vertical line of birds on the wire overhead.

Tweaks: cropping, levels, sharpness and slight straightening.

Snow Robins

Snow Robins

A big flock of American Robins (Turdus migrators) descended on this shrub outside our building. The birds weren't touching this a few weeks ago, so the berries must just be ripening.

Anyone know what type of berry this is? (a winter berry in the Seattle area)

The Nissan Watering Hole

The Nissan Watering Hole

A flock of American Robins (Turdus migrators) was catching the snow melt on this warm Nissan engine. I shot this just before dusk, at the far end of my tele, at high ISO ... so, not the best quality but I'm posting it because I was charmed by the ingenuity of the robins.

A number of berries are ripening around our neighborhood here, so we're seeing big flocks of robins descending on the shrubs. It reminds me of the Cedar Waxwing flocks I'd see in the winter in the Bay Area ... substitute the sweet melodies of robin song.
