Remove the buttons altogether, then they can take down the sign, too. : -)

We had a case of "buddy punching" at a client's business. They run a nursery, and have 200+ employees in the summer, many of whom are related to one another. One would stay home a day, while his buddy punched in, and vice-versa.
We installed a biometric palm scanning system. So far, no one has been willing to lop off a hand and send it to work with a friend so he can take the day off, nor have they watched enough movies to figure out how to thwart the system by molding a fake hand.

The best solution is to only employ reliable and trustworthy employees, then ditch the machines altogether.
My employer tried to get me to have a clock card, i took it as an insult towards my trust, and i totally object to being treated like just another number.
After giving it a trial, i found it actually made me want to be late for work.
They told me to clock out if i went to do a job off site, the first time i did this they got my wages wrong.
After that the card seemed to play up, what can i say, i guess they dislike big magnets lol.
After that, no more card bullshit, its just something extra to carry about and get lost.
My incentive to get to work, is trust based.
Interestingly, I am hardly ever late, yet the guys with the cards often arrive 15 to 20 minutes later than me.
Also i don't give bullshit excuses for not getting my ass into work, i try not to get sick, but unless i am really ill, i will never have time off.
