the old "tropeiros"

Called "tropeiros" (muleteers) and "violeiros" (players from a acustic guitar with
twelve strings), those people used to transport merchandise on the Mantiqueira's mountain ridge, from a state to other, on the old times.
To preserve some of their traditions as the tropeiro's coffe, acustic guitar's songs, Catira's dance, they made a annual meeting in São Francisco Xavier city.

There, I met this wonderful old face from one of those proud men
from the countryside, called Zé Malaque.
So simple beautiful people and so full of "land life" :)

What I notice in all of your portraits is that your subjects are so comfortable and dignified; their expressions never look forced. Do you spend a lot of time with the people you photograph before taking their pictures?
