The staircase

The staircase by the tartanpodcast.
TartanStories
How I got thrown out of the Apple Store in Glasgow for being on the phone while holding a notebook. I did have my camera around my neck, but the lens cap was on. I was told that the people who post photos of Apple products on Flickr are going to be "contacted". I was also told that Apple "have people" who take care of their "image" online and people are not allowed to take photographs of Apple products and post said photos online.

I was allowed to take shots in the opening of one of the apple stores in london:

Macbooks

They were quite happy to let me snap away and upload them to flickr, maybe you just ran into a newbie apple manger?

Remember this is a fairly new Apple Store, you probably got an over-zealous new employee.

I wonder who designed that staircase? It reminds me of work by the Czech architect, Eva Jiricna.

The employee did you a favour. You spend your life in that shop!

An employee once told me I couldn't take pictures in the store (Pittsburgh, PA), and that it was corporate policy. Later that day I went back and he corrected himself and by saying that I just wasn't allowed to take photos of employees or customers, which makes sense. He said he had mixed up the rules earlier, and apologized.

Unless they changed their policy from when I worked there, cameras and video cameras were always allowed.

Unless they've changed policy since I took photos in there, the employee is talking rubbish.

I've taken pictures inside the store many times with their own cams:

And I also lifecast with a live camera streaming to the web and even have told them about it twice and they don't bat an eye:

That's truly strange. I snapped this photo at the Apple Store Fifth Avenue on its opening weekend:

Blimey - we've got two Apple stores in Manchester now, and neither of them look even half as impressive. Love that staircase.

So many photos taken of the stores, equipment and even the staff in the Manchester, UK group - they don't seem mind.

Sorry to hear about this - absolutely ridiculous! I have taken many photos in many Apple stores including the new iMac when it was wheeled out at the 5th Avenue store! Link here.

They let me shoot all I wanted in the London store. It is just always a good idea to ask for permission before taking pictures. I went up to an employee, said I wanted to take some pics, he asked a senior employee and that one said "it's ok" and so I snapped away.

this is absurd - I went into an Apple store in NYC (fifth ave) and directly asked "can I take photos in here" and they said, "yes, absolutely!"

And I proceeded to take photos. I've worked at two Apple stores in Georgia, and we never had a policy to tell people they couldn't take photos.

This employee is on an Apple power trip. Let me tell you, that happens way too easily - that's why I don't work there anymore.

Didn't have any issues at the opening of the Apple store in Southampton. Sounds like the employee was making it up as he went along.
