Mt. Rainier & Mt. Saint Helens
We spent 5 days exploring this gorgeous area. I'd never been to Mt. Rainier and only been to Mt. Saint Helens' west side. This time we went to the east side, Windy Ridge, which gets you one mile closer to the mountain and offers spectacular views of Spririt Lake and the logs that are still floating 36 years after the eruption. Everywhere we went the wildflowers were in bloom. We camped at La Wis Wis Campground on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest which has huge trees and a beautiful swimming hole called Blue Hole. We hiked the Naches Peak Loop on Saturday and chatted with some nice hikers on their last leg of the PCT. We visited the Mt. Rainier Railroad Dining Car and had dinner. It was a great trip!
