Smoke Jumpers at the Frontier

We skipped going to the frontier as 100 smoke jumpers got in line in front of us. They had cool bright yellow shirts and itchy looking wool pants. I thought they were outside smoking, but the gods of irony were unkind and they were just hanging out awaiting the Hot Shot buses

In reality it is the guys who parachute, 4x4, hike into the back country to fight forest fires. We have lots of backcountry here that gets very little rain and lots of high winds and lightning which can be problematic.

What do you call them over in mordor?

I don't think we have them. The normal fire service and the forestry workers fight fires, but it rains so much here we don't get many. Occasionally our firemen go over to Australia to help them put out the big bush fires. It's much drier over there.
