Tara Badcock PARIS+TASMANIA- Monogrammed Rosette for a small boy, February 2012

Tara Badcock PARIS+TASMANIA- Monogrammed Rosette for a small boy, February 2012

This and the next rosette (following image), are part of a private commission for a customer in New South Wales. This rosette is for a boy who is actually yet to be born! His name has already been picked so that's helpful in terms of knowing what to embroider! The baby shower for him is next week.

This is a work in progress image, hence the pins. The rosette is off to San Francisco as a gift for a small girl called Madeleine.

Tara Badcock PARIS+TASMANIA- Letter from Swan Port, cushion January-February 2012

Tara Badcock PARIS+TASMANIA- Letter from Swan Port, cushion January-February 2012

This is one of a batch of cushions I'm making for Sibella Court's Sydney store, The Society Inc. in Paddington, finished and mailed today, phew!

This cushion is based on Louisa Ann Meredith's memoirs and observations from the early-mid 1800's, "My Life in Tasmania" and I've taken some of her own text and mixed it up with some I've invented to create a 'letter' she's hypothetically written to her sister. Louisa and her children were avid beach combers and so I've embroidered a sea horse skeleton and I can't remember the name of the other thing I embroidered, we call it a sea hare, though I need to check its real name....

Hand & freehand machine embroidery on silk, kangaroo leather 'wax seal', linen backing and Australian feather insert.

Dimensions: 80 x 30cm approx.

Tara Badcock PARIS+TASMANIA- Souvenir of Elsewhere, cushion January 2012

Tara Badcock PARIS+TASMANIA- Souvenir of Elsewhere, cushion January 2012

This is one of a batch of cushions I'm making for Sibella Court's Sydney store, The Society Inc. in Paddington.

This cushion is based on souvenir postcards and travel paraphernalia from the late 1800's and early 1900's...I'm still passionately obsessed with Egypt travel chic from the 1920's and 30's! This one is a little updated and contemporary with the 2001 passport stamps I found on the internet....

Hand & freehand machine embroidery on silk, Pip Willy hemp/linen backing and Australian feather inserts.

Dimensions: 60 x 50cm approx.
