I'm trying out some different purse shapes and sizes and making some pieces that are a bit more 'me' for a change.
Its good to have some spare stock made up in case I get more enquiries.

This purse is about 29cm long and 15cm high, hand embroidered silk, leather back and printed hemp lining.
I've been playing with knots too and this is my first Money Fist (see top left of purse)...I need to practice more!
I wanted some knots on this new series of bags to reference the whole atmosphere of sailing ships and slow travel....slow sewing!

I had an idea to make some 'portrait rosettes' and for some reason I've been wanting to depict men, working men and particularly Victorian-era personages.
This is the first practice rosette to see how it goes. I wanted it to be very plain...hopefully the next ones will be less over-embroidered!
Head Gardener has a plaid tweed rosette ruffle and some hemp string for decoration.

This purse is part of a commissioned collection for a friend and fellow artist, Mairi Ward, featuring some of her printed textiles, the designs for which are taken from her large scale painted artworks.

This cushion is part of a recent commission (to go with the two previous rosettes).
I've blanked out part of the address to maintain some privacy.
The postal themed cushion features two 'invented' postage stamps of a kangaroo and 'viticulture', as the commission is intended for a little boy in the USA from his Godmother in Australia, who manages a wine company.

Hand and freehand machine embroidery on silk, Australian feather insert, hemp denim backing.
