The new car: an apple-flavored '07 Hyundai Accent.

My old car decided to wait to die until a week before we're moving out of town. Toyotas are nice, but I don't think they're very considerate. Instead of doing the valiant thing and shopping around for a car, I went with Pat (a fairly knowledgable car fiend) to the Hyundai dealership, and bought the cheapest thing they had. It seems like a pretty good car though, and I was crunched for time, so I'm happy. (truth be told, i had mentally picked out the car when i saw it because the color is so cool.)

It's manual, had no stereo (until today that is!), and currently has no air conditioning. We'll see about having some A/C installed, because, well, Texas.

I bought a used hyundai elantra a few years back. It had a bunch of problems, mostly with the transmission. I spent $2500 putting a used one in it because they couldn't get a new one. It died again anyway, this time while driving to the hospital to get my girlfriend tests for a heart murmur. Fun.

I'm not knocking your purchase though. The Hyundai's are a lot better now. They got a bad rap with the transmission problem and that's why they have the 10 year powertrain warranty, which is awesome. They've done a lot to repair the korean car reputation by making better cars. They also own Kia which is also doing really well.

I respect the wagon choice. I love my VW Golf dearly. I've hauled more stuff in it than most people with trucks. It's really great to have the option to do so.

As soon as this winter weather clears up, I'm getting it cleaned up and looking respectable again.

Congrats!

Nice ride! I test drove one just like it and really enjoyed it. I'm seriously giving the Accent hatch consideration. I've enjoyed my Vibe, but she's racking up an awful lot of miles, and I'd rather put $$$ toward a new one rather than patching an old one and waiting for the next thing to break.

How's your fuel economy looking? I've heard some iffy reports... that 5th gear is kinda' low, and lots of people are getting 19-28 mpg instead of the 28-36.
