I wonder if they added some extra flash for visual effect? If not, those nearby vessels were in danger from that size of explosion

Beautiful shot!!!
A few questions, though...
1. Why did they sink her? To create an artifical reef?
2. Is the water really that blue or is it touched up? The more pictures I see of NZ, the more I want to move there...

it's become artificial reef, for fish and divers. They stripped all the fittings and sold them at online auction, ran an sms competition to pick the person to push the exploder button - and then they sank the ship on a sunday afternoon with thousands of people watching. It took us 2 hours to drive home (about 4 kilometres)

oh, and the sea, yes... it's that dark and the see is that electric blue colour.

i've had many northern-hemisphere folks comment on the fake-looking colour of the sky in my photos, but that's what it looks like here. Must be the lack of ozone.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called 44ft Motor Lifeboats (Waveney Class Lifeboat), and we'd love to have your photo added to the group. The orange and blue boat in the right hand bottom corner of your photo, is one of these boats!!!

Looks like it's a wired detonation rather then chancing RC?
