People's Desire: A Democracy!

At the end of my first trip to Burma, I was on my way to the Bagan airport when I passed this sign. I had seen a few of these menacing red billboards painted with government propaganda during my visit, but hadn't yet taken a picture. I asked the taxi driver to stop, which he did and snickered, "Oh yeah, the 'people's desire.'" He lit a cigarette and leaned against his car, clearly not convinced by the regime's message.
