People on the hill at Musgrave Park for Paniyiri, the Greek festival.

Also this week's Illustration Friday entry because... it's a wide angled view which is unusual for me. Also because my intended Illustration Friday picture for this week has excess facial hair.

I really like your marker use - and very interesting and effective shapes-negative shapes. The composition is great - so much to look at without seeming busy! Very nice!

That's a wonderful illustration! The pale, silloutted figures in the middle ground and heavy tone of the foreground tree make this scene appear really sunny.

Thanks!

Berkemc: I enjoy trying out negative shapes, and I'm glad it is full but not too busy. I didn't even try to put *everyone* in:) It was a very crowded day at the park (I was drawing because I couldn't actually see the dancers, even from the hill).

Szaza: It's a set of Pitt Artist Markers: three widths of black and five broad-tipped greys. It's the "Manga Set", which startles people, but it comes in a wallet which keeps them all together which is good given the quantity of art supplies I carry in my handbag.

Juan Kerr: I'm so glad that came across! It was a brilliant day, bright and cold (for Brisbane) and clear and very windy. We'd had a sepia storm the afternoon before which seems to have washed all the heat (and humidity) away for winter. And of course I had dressed for a summer's day in the park :)

Thanks arumfaerie! I was trying to work out how best to draw the crowd without detracting from the figure in front.

I love your sketches and your notes..they actually bring me to Australia for a while and at the same time I realize they're so universal!

Wow, thanks Ainlis! I love how the specific can be universal (sorry, literature student escaped there for a moment) and I'm glad it was here, too!

Would you please plant this in the Avant-Garden?
