We were able to piece the origin of the plague together after eye witnesses told of a mysterious helicopter flying in the area.
It turns out that the helicopter dropped a crate labeled "Umbrella." Kirby, who was apparently first on the scene, ate the entire contents of the crate. Within minutes the Kirby we knew and loved was no more.
