Hi, I'm an admin for a group called One Million Peace Signs, and we'd love to have your photo added to the group.

We'd also like to add a thumbnail (which would link right back to you for credit) to our website at www.onemillionpeacesigns.com AND, if you have other Peace Photos, please add them to the group pool too and we'll get them on the website.

We're getting a couple thousand hits a day already...and we're overwhelmed with the awesome Peace out there! It's a really exciting project...I hope you'll check it out and join us! And let other PeaceNiks know...we're looking for a million!

Peace...pass it on...

Hi, my name is Bonnie Tamres-Moore and I live in Austin, TX. I started the "torture is wrong." banner project because I really thought I just had to do something! I've placed 72 banners in the last two years at all different kinds of faith communities across the country.

I am a member of the National Religious Campaign Against Torture. They have adopted my banner program and expanded on it. We are asking faith communities in every state to hang a banner, opposing torture, in June. It's called Banners Across America. Take a look.

Torture...So what these people say is Torture is bad. Even thou that most terrorist know things that could save hundreds of lives, you all would rather let hundreds die to stop the torture of a few terrorist. Not trying to start an argument, but you must use the same methods that your enemy uses.

Sounds like you don't have an opinion about the ethics of torture? Sorry to hear that. You're right that there is no point in arguing about it further. We'll just have to disagree on that point and leave it there.

But it sounds like you are of the opinion that torture is an effective means of saving lives? Therefore you should consider the following:

Expert, veteran interrogators have been clear about the fact that torture simply does not work. Not even when the interrogated suspect is believed to have knowledge of an imminent attack.

Citations:
See this coverage of veteran interrogator U.S. Air Force Reserve Colonel Steve Kleinman's November 8 2007 testimony before the US House Judiciary Committee. Kleinman calls it "unnecessary to conduct our affairs outside the boundaries." But he goes further than that: not only is it unnecessary, it can also be downright counterproductive. Kleinman went on to say that torture "takes away a lot of my tools" of interrogation.

Not convinced by one expert's testimony? Then see also this speech by retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Malcolm Wrightson Nance before the same hearing, where he made the point that "Waterboarding has the ability to make the subject answer any question with the truth, a half-truth or outright lie in order to stop the procedure. Subjects usually resort to all three, often in rapid sequence."

Nance is a former instructor of prisoner of war and terrorist hostage survival programs at SERE and the author of this article which states categorically that "Anyone strapped down will say anything, absolutely anything to get the torture to stop. Torture. Does. Not. Work."

The Wrong Guy - Joe Warren says:

I have spent 21 years in prison for a murder I did not commit.
I was framed by a paid informant, by a man who was later convicted with falsifying evidence.
There was no evidence. Yet I was convicted.
Another man (Savard) is currently doing 25 yrs
