Thanks sound. This was a very moving, very effective demo I thought.

Really brings home the meaning of habeas corpus to see these volunteers take off their hoods to reveal just ordinary folks under there. How many "just ordinary folks" are now in custody for good and with no means to formally challenge a possibly unjust detention?

What I like to remember is the "Civil Rights Act of 1988" signed by Reagan no less, formally apologizing for the war-time internment of Japanese Americans and providing cash reparations to the survivors or their descendents. Good overview and portal here: www.indiana.edu/~japan/iguides/internment.htm l

We marched behind hundreds of orange-clad protestors right past the National Japanese American Memorial on Pennsylvania Ave. See: www.njamf.com/ for more on that beautiful park commemorating the victims of systematic wartime American racism. Wish I'd got some shots of that.

Putting the burden on the government & military to prove guilt is not enough.

Getting the innocent released is not enough.

We must work towards reparations for unjust imprisonment!

It has happened before ... and I believe must, and will happen again.

But first things first of course: Guantanamo must be closed.
