Jul 17-20 - Royal Liverpool Golf Course - Hoylake, England, UK

Northern-Ireland golfer, Rory McIlroy, takes a six-shot lead over American Rickie Fowler into the final round of the British Open tomorrow (SUN) after another absorbing day at Hoylake. The British Open has served as one of golf's greatest major tournaments for over a century. McIlroy, bidding for a third major title and his first Claret Jug, fired 68 to surge to 16 under after brushing off a short-lived back-nine challenge from fellow 25-year-old Fowler, who also shot 68. Three-time Open winner Tiger Woods shot 73 to end the day three over, defending champion Phil Mickelson (71) was one under and world number one Adam Scott (69) of Australia was six under.

...... in fact, my name is Tiger Woods....

Design of a Golf Course

A specialty of landscape design or landscape architecture, golf course architecture is its own field of study. Some golf course architects become celebrities in their own right. The field is represented by the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the European Institute of Golf Course Architects and the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.

While golf courses often follow the original landscape, some modification is unavoidable. This is increasingly the case as new courses are more likely to be sited on less optimal land. Bunkers and sand traps are almost always artificial, although other hazards may be natural.

The layout of fairways follows certain traditional principles, such as the number of holes (nine and 18 being most common), their par and number of chosen par types per course. It is also preferable to arrange greens to be close to the tee box of the next playable hole, to minimize travel distance while playing. Combined with the need to package all the fairways in a compact square or rectangular land plot, they tend to form an oppositional tiling pattern. In complex areas, sometimes two holes share a single tee box. It is also common for separate tee-off points to be positioned for men, women, and amateurs, each one respectively lying closer to the green.

A successful design is as visually pleasing as it is playable. With golf being an outdoor form of recreation, the strong designer is an adept student of natural landscaping, understanding the aesthetic cohesion of vegetation, water bodies, paths, grasses, stonework and woodwork, among other things.

today the first of the Tiger Woods Lilies has opened, looking forward to many more to open.

Tiger Woods is one of my respected and admired athletes.

And I have a confession to make. I watch golf if Tiger is playing. If not, I have no interest.

Shocked as his millions of fans around the globe, the story that dominated the news somehow tarnished his clean image not as the best golfer in the world but as a man and as a husband and father.

Sad to say he tried his best to cover his imperfection but failed. His money could not stop the desire of the public to know the truth.

His transgressions, his infidelity, his adultery finally became the talk of the town. A Tigerville is now part of our lives, whether we like it or not.

There's a saying that when you become a popular entity, you are owned by the public. That is the bad trade off for being a popular and rich individual like Tiger. That is a reality you cannot escape if you are famous and most especially, adored, by millions.

His sponsors are singing a different tune nowadays. Although Nike, his biggest commercial backer is sticking with him, AT&T and Gillette are staying away for now. How many more will leave Tiger? Update: Gatorade and Accenture are dumping him.

Life is really like a game. One day, you win. And the next day, you lose.

He announced yesterday that he is taking a break from professional golf to focus on repairing his relationship with his family.

I wish that he could recover. I hope he will be stable and will prove some people wrong that said he had suicidal tendencies.

I am imperfect. And so does everyone else. So, Tiger is just one of us.

Tiger, it is time to get out of that sand trap. It is still my wish for you to show up even with a bandaged face and speak to everyone rather than convey your feelings through your website. Be a Tiger again.

_______________

His TW on his cap could mean not Tiger Woods but Tiger's Women.

Tiger finally found out that there was another Tiger inside his house. More ferocious than him.

Tiger loves white women. I wonder why?

_______________

What Tiger said:

I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try.

I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What's most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.

After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.

With Tiger Woods' back-to-back, always-in-command two-stroke wins at Doral and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he has now won six times in his last 20 PGA Tour events over a 53-week span and is, indeed, No. 1 on earth again.

Tiger practices his putting as the sun rises over Lake Michigan...

Have you noticed that no one is golfing anymore. Has Tiger's Off-the-Course behavior killed an entire sport? An entire industry?

What will ESPN do? Will The Golfing Channel change into yet another Cooking Channel?

After the end of the Civil War in 1865, thousands of Americans and foreigners moved onto the Great Plains and into the Rocky Mountains and intermountain West. Between 1870 and 1900, people settled 430,000,000 acres and cultivated 225,000,000 acres of virgin land. Jackson Hole and other remote areas were settled and developed in the late nineteenth century. Geographic isolation, altitude, and climate discouraged earlier settlement. Perhaps more important, lands better suited to agriculture were available else where.

I drove up and down Main street for a good 40 minutes before deciding to pull over and call the hotel.

[...]Yes, i'm in dire need of your help. Yes, that's correct, if you could direct me into the correct direction... Yes, I am ...errr... in the parking lot of the Town and Country superstore... And you say that i should hop on highway 10 and after about 3 miles take exit 15? ...No m'am, I'm not in Utah, but rather in Vermont. No, not a problem, just a funny situation. [...]

So i stood there for a while watching the sky laughing at myself. A few US army fighter jets flew overhead, accompanied by a wheezing sound of terror, or perhaps the comforting melody of well being and safety. Depending which way you want to interpret it.

Shortly after, i'm back behind the wheel, and decide to stop at one of those road side motels. You know you can't go wrong with these places, I never have.

I pull up besides the office, step inside and wait for the clerk to show up. A few seconds later a door opens and a grim looking character, wearing a 3 day's beard which in turn is covering an oily and sagging face, steps forward, followed by the cries and whines of what sounds like a colony of toddlers and an angry wife. We take care of the paper work and he hands me the keys of the place.

The room doesn't look in better shape than the clerk. A gray place, which within minutes, calls for a suicide without a note. I look around the premises and recognize one of those rooms that still maintains the 80's vibe, seemingly having been bypassed altogether by the 90's , and not to mention the new century. I flip through the channels, jumping from the weather channel ,transiting through the debates and the breaking news about Tiger Woods' soon to become sex scandal, stop by the shopping channel, the sports channel and finally settle on an old "soft porn movie" I fall asleep holding the remote, for lack of better options i guess.

Turf thought he was being helpful when he picked up the litter on the course. Then he noticed what it was in his hand. POP! The rest was history.

This hard looking man had two very obviously home made flash cards, hand written on cardboard from a box. On the first he had a not too flattering joke about Tiger Woods; on the second he asked for a $ - presumably for the privilige of looking at the first. Some people sitting around paid up, most didn't. He just passed on regardless, basically hustling for a buck, without any real change in his expression one way or the other.

A man on whose toes I would not wish to tread; I took this quick candid shot and then I too passed on!
