Of my hundreds and hundreds of diving duck hunts on the vast Mississippi Sound, my good friend Leonard has been on many of them with me, and we've bagged our share of redheads, canvasbacks, buffleheads, bluebills, scoters, and practically every species of geese and puddle duck too.

Shot our limits of redheads early, and decided to add some bluebills, a drake widgeon, and a pair of buffleheads to the mix. A magnificent hunt, especially when limits come fast and easy. A hunt to remember! Ducks were piling into the decoys as we began picking up decoys, a beautiful sight. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

This huge black drum may have been a new Mississippi state record (over 70-pounds), but we opted to release the big fish to fight another day. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

On this hunt I was accompanied by my lifelong friend Kevin Toncrey, and as you can see we enjoyed an ideal diving duck hunt. Limits of bluebills and redheads, and all were plump and beautiful drakes. A classic diving duck hunt! Mississippi style!
