A friend of my. We were planning to make a photosession long time ago and there was no good time for both of us but eventually one day we met and this is what i shot that day.
“I am not old, I am just 90 years old.” said Juozas when I met him in Pilies street in Vilnius. “I am all alone at home and still need to take care of my 12 ares of my land and the garden”.
I met Juozas when he was selling his wooden spoons and pallets. He told me that he does it out of the trees that he has in his garden. “At first I had 30 trees but now just 12 left. I use it to do my carvings, but look at the beautiful things I have done.”
Juozas finished his engineering studies in 1951 and then worked in the foreign soviet destinations for a long time. He was the supervisor in big developments in Samara. Though he remembers these days with a smile on his face.
That day I passed Juozas couple of times afterwards. Even in the late afternoon he was still sitting and selling his handcrafts. “I sold ten of them already!” he shouted from afar. I thanked him once again and waved goodbye.
