The Sika deer are litteraly all over the place in Japan. You could easily get to feed one of these by hand, in Nara, for example. But we are talking about another kind of temper. We are on the Shiretoko peninsula on eastern Hokkaido and you could tell this young female wouldn't encounter that many people where she use to feed. It took me nearly an hour for her to feel confortable enough to forget about me and tolerate me into her comfort zone. But once I was, it was just pure beauty with the last rays of sun piercing the folliages. Golden hour, a beautyful wild animal feeding just before me... what is more to ask ?

I came to the Shiretoko National Park that is also designated as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO. This photo includes Furepe Waterfall on the right side and a wild deer on the cliff on this side.
