"Mama, Mama! May we have an outside tea party today?" Silvi and Constance asked? "It's nice out on the deck!"

"Oh, I think that is a great idea! It's a little cool, but I expect that with fur, neither of you are cold! Let's get the dishes and I will be out with the teapot in just a second!"

"Thank you, Mama!"

"You are both welcome! Now, please be careful with the nursery rhyme china. It is very special to me. It was made in England and came all the way around the world from Australia! Isn't that amazing?!"

"We will be extra careful, Mama!" said Silvi.

"Yes we will, Mama! It is so lucky you have it! It makes for a very special tea party!" said Constance.

"Yes it does, my darlings! Yes, it does!"

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!

Before the frost and snow did it in

35:52 leaves

My little miniature rose has bloomed a second time, and the white one has a bud on it again! I am so thrilled!!

And another day is done. Now is night time fun, cuz there is no more sun.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

we have at least 10 black squirrels around .. they all don't come on the deck but this one loves the deck and is not too shy to knock on the patio door either!

Gerrie is my favourite Teddy Bear to shoot. My first Bear in my collection.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

I took this photo sometime last year when I lived in London. The original colours are pink and red but as I've got loads and loads of time on my hands these days I decided to do some major faffing around with post processing software. I rather like this combination of colour.

I was making Kelli's Easter basket (yes, I know she's 16, but she still gets a basket ) and loved the bunny face!

Took it out on the deck, and propped it up on the table top lamp, that Jimmy made for me yesterday, and this is the result!

Happy Easter To You All...

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this Red Tailed Hawk right in front of the patio door,,, he was peering into the room and then flew up on the table .....I grabbed this quickie through the door,,, not a sharp pic because I was shaking with excitement!! LOL Thanks to Kim Klassen for the texture,,,,

thanks so much for your visits

My caladium bloomed again this year. I find this surprising because all the other years I have ever had caladium, I never saw it bloom... until last year and this year. I wonder why!?

So here is this year's caladium... although it is slid enough to be good for Slider Sunday!

Ok, pretty much everything in this photo is fake, with the exception of the wood, and the 'chalice'. Fake acorns (not a good idea to store ones you've collected, I learned the hard way lol), fake flowers, fake shadows (well, enhanced shadows, so I suppose they are still fake lol), fake photographer (I feel like such a fraud sometimes). I actually planned this shot for weeks (I may not be fast, but, I sure am slow), and some of you are thinkin' "Sheesh, he sure wasted the last few weeks. lol I like the earthy tones in this shot, and I also like the way the autumn light accentuates the earth tones.I have been fascinated by acorns since grade two. It's a long story. lol

Lacking initiative, or ambition to shoot anything else, this is what you get, I guess. Same can, different spot.

Couldn't sleep several nights ago and was up until the early hours. I went out on the deck and looked up at the soft lavender sky - it looked like the tree was trying to grab the moon! Wish I had had a bigger lens on the camera!

I used the "Pretty Preset" called Gingersnap to enrich this, and add some texture. And, of course, there's my pseudo cottage, and my fake window on the nonexistent lake.

First snow here on the Elk River, and of course it may be the ONLY one we see, but still fun! Along with the birds who stormed the bird feeders, we had a brave little squirrel. I just couldn't turn him away . . .

... me to sleep. :)

Night night!

On the steps of our new deck, using my D750 for the first time in a month.

One of my favourites!

we have at least 3 baby squirrels here this week .. they love to chase and roll around with each other ...hopefully they will stop fooling around and get busy finding a home for the winter and start storing some food ... at least they will have the bird feeders to eat from!

I love cloisonné. Not sure why, but, I do. It's one of the things I collect. But, I like my pieces small, and, hopefully unique. I picked this little feller up recently, for $10. It came with a tiny wooden stand that seems made for it. It's about 2 inches high. I took this shot-where else-on my back deck. lol

I was watching a Christmas movie the other day (don't judge me), and it reminded me of home, or rather, the place I used to call home. So, I started writing a little thing that I'll be posting from time to time, as a serial type of thing. Sorry if it bores you, but, man, my life was ordinariesville.

Take Me Back Pt. 1

As his car headed slowly up the hill, his eyes were everywhere. There was the big country store, next to where the old, little one had stood. There was the fuel oil supplier, named Smith Brothers. Not the cough drop brothers, but, he remembered that as a child he had thought they were the same. There was the house of his first friend, born just before him. In fact his friend had been given the name his parents had intended for him. A minor bone of contention between the two families. As the car continued its climb, there were all the old houses and fields and trees that he remembered. It all looked the same, but, tired now. Tired and world weary, lacking the energy and vibrancy of an earlier time.

At least that is what the mug says :-) Actually, he's perfect to me. The "theme" as it were for the 365 this week in "introductions" so I figured I would introduce you to my hubby or as my grandkids call him GP (short for grand pa). Our kids just call him Dad.

He was out on the deck as I was walking back home from getting some shots of the creek when I told him I was going to take his picture and he could not make a face or give me the usual flip the bird gesture. Rather, he pulled the coffee cup up and let me grab the shot.

I figured I would start my 365 project and the 100x project where I am going to shoot 100 x with my first DSLR and a vintage lens on a lens adapter here with a photo of my sweetie on New Years Day. The 365 will be with whatever camera I choose to capture the day with but the 100x is going to be my XTi with a vintage lens (I have several of them so I will put the lens in the tags and in the description here).

It is not a super great photo because of course it is taken with 10.1 megapixel camera - my original DSLR a Canon XTi with a Canon FD 135mm lens on a lens adapter. Edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2022.

ODC. A great place to be. Enjoying the nice evening on the deck

Take Me Back 4

He turned his car into his grandfather's driveway, stopped, and closed his eyes. This was his sister's house now. She had purchased it when their Gram had passed away. He knew his sister and her husband had done major renovations, and that the inside would look nothing like it was when he had last seen it. When his grandparents had lived here, they had made few changes in his lifetime. It was safe, warm, inviting, and he had always felt accepted here, unlike life outside this bubble. Unconditional love. Unconditional acceptance. He knew it now for what it was. When he hurt in his heart, here it felt alright. Or, at least, he knew he could, if only for a short time, feel at peace.

It was a busy day in St. Thomas, today. It was the first day of the Great Lakes International Air Show, so aircraft were flying overhead all day. Then I set up the bistro table on the deck, and set up my camera with the big gun, in the house to shoot whatever came my way. What came was Blue Jays, Cardinals, Orioles (all in their baseball finery) and a host of squirrels which came in three colourings/shades. There was grey, black, and blacker. So, theoretically, 3 Shades Of Grey, I guess.

Sometimes, you just wanna shoot sumpin', anything. So, what's more appropriate than shooting a camera with a camera? Throw in a little film tin, also from Kodak, and ya got yerself a perfect trifecta. You may have to think about that one. lol

(EXPLORE) Our outdoor pet was giving me this look by the back door. I sometimes leave the big 2 kg bags of seed on the deck tied up.....but lately, there's been too many holes dug in it (wonder who's doing that?!), so I've brought it in the house. Apparently, she's not happy with the change and has resorted to just coming over and asking for it!! lol

Autumn/Christmas mashup. lol The basket is from some of my Christmas props, and the apples, of course, are from fall harvest. This is on the steps of our deck. Beautiful, autumn light, trickling down.

Dill is the sister of Mesquite whom I think I have posted before. She is a sweetie with just a little stub of a tail.

There's a person, place or time,

that brings you back and makes you feel alive.

explored.

I'm going to a Reading Phillies baseball game tonight with my dad. I'm meeting up with a few friends there. Ahhh, the joys of summer and baseball games. :)

Lola's baby's are growing up fast ... but they still love to hug each other ...

First snow here on the Elk River, and of course it may be the ONLY one we see, but still fun! Along with the birds who stormed the bird feeders, we had a brave little squirrel. I just couldn't turn him away . . . I am not sure the finches DO really believe it's good to share, but the squirrel is much bigger, so it's a compromise!

Alas, not this mornings!!

The rare snow here on the Elk RIver! Our regular birds are somewhat amazed and miffed- I did carefully go out and put out seeds but there were more than ever there to eat! Birds we haven't had before!

{film} Vodka cocktail + sunset + friends + the deck on a slightly chilly spring day + Hasselblad + peel apart.

Best viewed on black.

One camera, three views. I think the back of this camera is as interesting as the front. A lot going on both places.

There are days, when I feel like a prisoner in my own personal oubliette. I've basically missed summer so far, with little chance of getting out and enjoying the nice weather. Occasional trips to the mall, or doing shopping for our renovations. The workers moved our oven back into the kitchen today. Two months without a stove, or oven.I've been trying different shots with this little watering can I bought in the spring. I loved the shade of bright blue. My favourite colour.
