My detailed scorecard from the Cubs win over the Florida Marlins on 7/15/2011. Highlights of this game include:

* Cubs win 2-1

* Carlos Marmol comes in the day after blowing a two-run lead in the 9th the Marlins. He walked four straight batters in that game. In this game, he walked his first batter and then gave up a single and run.

* Marlon Bryd makes a great play throwing out Hanley Ramirez trying to stretch his single into a double. (the sae single that Marmol gave up)

* Hanley Ramirez got his 1000th career hit (the same one where he got thrown out trying to make it into a double).

* Carlos Pena strikes out three times

* The only two cubs runs came from a Marlin blooper as the ball drops between RF Mike Stanton and 2B Omar Infante

* No player had more than one hit other than Marlon Byrd.

* Emilio Bonifacio continues his hitting streak to 14 games.

Other notes:

* ANDRE DAWSON waves at Erik before game--Erik yells from upper deck.

* WWE superstar wrestler and chicago native, CM Punk throws out first pitch (bounces it)

* National Gummi Worm Appreciation Day (not officially celebrated or acknowledged by the Cubs, but celebrated by me and my out of office message)

* We were gonna meet at the Harry Caray statue, but they moved it to the bleachers. Erik and I ran into each other on the way to the new location. This was Erik's first time riding the CTA since his Museum of Contemporary Art internship in 1996! It was so hot when we sat down at 11:30am, we were in the sun. HOT HOT. We got up and walked around.

* We found out that the seats at the very top for 9 of the upper deck next to the broadcast booth were nice--in shade and breeze. While in upper deck is when Erik got Andre Dawson to wave. I have a video of it on Youtube.

* Post-game: We walked to Paper Source and I got thank you cards for spudart. Walked to the Southport train station.

* Attendance 38,391

* Food pre-game: Erik brat. Matt foot-long bison buffalo hot dog. Erik: Diet Pepsi. Erik: giant huge pretzel named Pretzilla.

* Food fifth inning: chocolate malt cups.

* Gummi worms through the game.

* The chocolately goodness as served from a gravel-voiced vendor who wanted a tip. The chocolate malt ended up tasting like chemicals and never melted.

So you just won the rookie of the year award which was awesome, but then you get swept in the playoffs, which was a total bummer. How do you celebrate and forget your sorrows at the same time?

BUSTED! Geovany Soto tests positive for marijuana was a post for the Delusional Cubs Fan Blog.

He says he's embarrassed and wants to move on. Shouldn't we just be happy it wasn't steroids?

At least we know why he showed up to camp overweight. Offseason munchies!
