Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland, Maine.

The Farnsworth House was designed and constructed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe between 1945 and 1951. It is a one-room weekend retreat commissioned by Edith Farnsworth, M.D., a prominent Chicago nephrologist, as a place where she could engage in her hobbies. Currently, the house is owned and operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. (Wikipedia)

Located on the corner of Farnsworth and Moran, this community garden was started by Molly Motor waaaay before urban farming was the buzzword of the day as the potential "savior" of Detroit. That entire block is a wonder of urban homesteading and the kind of urban farming I'd personally prefer to see city-wide over corporate owned operations.

sure do miss that Maple.

That's why, when Philo Farnsworth invented the first all-electronic TV set in 1927, he should have forever destroyed the prototype once he learned that one day, an asinine concomitant TV-borne instrument would arise called THE SITCOM!

My first ever (completed) Castle build, and also my largest! Made for this year's Summer Joust contest, as an entry for the '48x48 Castle' category.

Really enjoyed building this, even though I built it (a bit rushed) in less than a month to finish it in time. Used almost all of my bley bricks, but I think it's definitely worth it!

I'd love to hear some opinions.

As the story goes, one of the main reasons Dr. Farnsworth was never satisfied with Mies van der Rohe's design of her house was his use of travertine on the porches. In autumn the leaves would fall onto the porch and stain the semi-porous stone. I don't think she would like this picture very much at all despite the fact that the building is widely recognized as an iconic masterpiece of the International Style of architecture.

As a retired television executive, I've always been a fan of Philo Farnsworth since he made my carrier possible. Farnsworth (1906-1971) was an American inventor and television pioneer who made all-electronic television a reality with his invention of the Image dissector camera tube.

This statue, created by James R. Avati, stands beside the old courthouse in Beaver, Utah where Farnsworth was born in a log cabin in 1906. A duplicate of the statue stands in the Utah State Capital and the U. S. Capital. There is also a peak in the Oquirrh Mountain range in Utah named after him and at one time it was home to most of the television and many of the FM radio towers serving the Wasatch Front.

Over the course of this year, I have become a fan of the Farnsworth House. So by proxy, this is probably my favorite set in terms of looks. Incredible detail for the scale and age.
