Stuff around Charlottesville, VA. One of my first HDR images, not really liking it anymore... The glow and intensity is too high for my current tastes.

My wife apparently found out about a children's book festival in Charlottesville on Saturday, and since she had been at home all week with an illness, she wanted to get out of the house. We had a great time as a family at the book event and of course headed up the extra few miles to catch the sunset at Raven's Roost. The Sunset was decent with a few nice clouds, but the sun set behind them, making the color more muted. I also did a little rock scrambling and found a place with some more dramatic rock for a "sharp" foreground. I also worked on a new technique that my flickr friend Micheal Greene told me about. I used my live view function to zoom in on the rocks at 10X and then I manually focused on to the rock, giving me a sharper focus than just my camera's autofocus. I think it helped my clarity a bit. T- 3 days until I cross back into the Alleghany Mountains!
